Self-Reliant Computing vs High-Priced Tech Support

You may wonder why my website offers so much free information on how to maintain your Windows computer and remove malware for free, etc.  The reason is that I promote self-reliant computing so that my friends and clients can have smooth running computers with minimal use of paid computer tech support from me or anyone else.  It is that simple.

I'm Steve (aka Fixer 1)

Most computer tech support services do not tell you about the valuable free resources available to the public.  Maybe they do not want you to become self-reliant.  After all, that could cut into their revenue.

For example, the well known Geek Squad tech support service suggests that you purchase antivirus software from Best Buy.  They make no mention of the excellent free antivirus software options discussed here at Fixer 1.  Just click that topic on the page list on the right for more info.

How about printer setup?  Geek Squad charges $50 to talk on the phone with you and use remote control to help set up your new printer.  You still have to connect the cables and do what they tell you to do.  But did you know if you simply connect a new printer to your PC, Windows will usually do the setup automatically?  Here at Fixer1, you can also find out how to use the excellent built-in Windows printer troubleshooter or setup a new printer and avoid that $50 Geek Squad phone call.  Again, just click the printer topic under Fix Your PC for Free above.

So, for those individuals interested in pursuing self-reliant computing and spending less money on paid tech support, this website is for you!

In the event you need further assistance at a reasonable cost, please call me at (303) 578-6687.

The tech support services I offer are listed on the Services tab.
